  1. Remains to be seen for me. Texas had significant competitive advantages in the recruitments of both Ogden and Goosby. Sure, BYU offered more NIL for Goosby, but it’s not like Texas didn’t offer life-altering money as well. However, The family aspects for both were impossible to replicate. However, it would be nice if you’re right.
  2. Saturday - Bobby I wrote yesterday morning that there is no magical offensive guard in the portal who is slated to become a starter for Texas. That if such a person enters, it’ll have to come from the rosters of either Miami or Indiana. Yet about an hour later, we learned that Georgia OL Jamal Merriweather was on campus. Many folks assumed this was a big deal. It wasn’t. Merriweather, in his third year at Georgia, saw the 13th most snaps of all Georgia OLs in 2025. He was a potential depth piece for Texas or any major school. Nothing more, nothing less. He committed to Miami later in the day. My point is this: Texas will continue to comb the transfer portal and the grad transfer market this spring. But it’s unlikely Texas finds its starting left guard in the portal. What’s more, Texas knows this. Instead, that starter will be among the players I mentioned yesterday who are already on the roster. ** Don’t be surprised if Texas brings more depth pieces to campus at other positions. The edge room could use some depth. Wide receiver and perhaps safety, too. Even another linebacker. But the value in the portal currently is scarce. ** In talking with folks behind the scenes, the Horns are hopeful that receiver Emmett Mosley V will be fully available for spring ball. OTF reported yesterday that, while receiver Ryan Wingo had wrist surgery, he is already slated to participate fully in spring. Getting both Mosley and Wingo more reps, alongside newcomer Cam Coleman, could be an important start to 2026. ** LSU is spending big money in the portal. They landed not only Sam Leavitt but also Jordan Seaton. Between just those two players, the Tigers are said to have spent almost $10mm. And Princewill Umanmielen didn’t come cheap either. LSU allegedly had to pay Ole Miss a buyout for his services. ** I listened to Dabo Swinney’s impassioned diatribe yesterday on the ills of the transfer portal. Ole Miss clearly stepped over the line. But what even is the line anymore? Wake me up when some adults enter the room who have actual solutions and those solutions are not more half measures like the one we saw decided yesterday by the playoff committee to remain at 12 teams. It truly is time for fundamental change in college sports, specifically football. I have zero faith it will happen.
  3. So his favorite team on CFB26 (assuming that’s his own game and TV) is Texas.
  4. Thank you for the NIL support.
  5. They will on the W side. That first picture above shows the S and E sides of the buildings, butting up against MLK and 35. The fourth picture with all the glass is N facing and looks at/over Moody.
  6. Posting the whole article for everyone: Friday - Bobby Unless a new player enters the portal (from Indiana or Miami), I don’t see Texas waving a magic wand and making a starting offensive guard appear. That means Texas is likely done on the offensive line other than adding a player or two who might otherwise provide depth. ** So what does that mean? Here’s a look at the two deep: LT - Goosby, J. Coleman or Chatman, Turntine LG - J. Coleman or Sikorski or Chatman or Christian C - C. Robertson, Christian, N. Robertson RG - Baker, D. Coleman, Newman RT - Siani, Cojoe, Scherer Left guard is the obvious question mark. ** For those concerned about Brandon Baker moving to right guard, I don’t share those same worries. None of them. I actually think he’s built more naturally to play inside and this is a great move for him. ** At left guard, it’s an admitted toss up. One player must rise to the top. I’d put my money on Jordan Coleman. But I wouldn’t discount Jackson Christian getting a look there eventually either. While many of you wanted an immediate answer in the portal for the position, Texas tried to provide that. But they couldn’t get it done, at least not with someone they believed would be a definite upgrade over Coleman. ** The portal has made at least one thing clear. It’s going to be harder for bluebloods to stack OL talent more than any position. There isn’t enough quality to go around. ** Will this be a fatal flaw for a Texas OL who struggled much of 2025? Only time will tell. But the Texas coaching staff behind the scenes seems to have a confidence about left guard and the OL generally that many fans lack. ** Today, Jan. 23, is the last day for the SEC and Big 10 commissioners to come to an agreement on the future of the college football playoff. The SEC wants an expansion to 16 teams. The Big 10 prefers an expansion to 24. Both parties must agree on any changes to the existing agreement. The SEC is said to be unwilling to go to 24. Without that guarantee, the Big 10 is likely to block a slightly expansionary move to 16 (or even 14). If there is an impasse, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey seems ok with keeping the current 12-teams format intact. ** But who really cares about the playoff format? Any change to it is like putting lipstick on a pig. College football needs fundamental change. It’s ridiculous to have 85 free agents every year. It’s ridiculous that players and schools are going to court over eligibility, over contract-breaking and enforcement of its own rules. It’s ridiculous that pay-for-play must be cloaked as NIL. It makes us all feel like we’re operating in the gutter. While the outcome college football playoff discussion will gather the most headlines today, the real issue at hand is not about the playoffs, it’s something much deeper and fundamental. I wish that the SEC and Big 10 commissioners spent zero time on the playoff discussion and all of their time on fixing the true issues with college sports and college football, in particular.
  7. Well, now's the time to take them, as current members of our OL cannot enter the portal at this point.
  8. The only excuse for Flood is if Sark is overriding him on all offers and personnel decisions, and it has actually been Sark that has fucked it all up. Given what we've heard about Sark wanting "yes men" in some of his staff decisions, maybe that's somewhat the case. However, that's the only alternative on the "alternative tree" that would make sense with Gerry's narrative.
  9. Ain’t no way according to Flood’s size preferences.
  10. Forget it. Apparently counting (and OL portal recruiting), like winning, is really hard. Siani is starter level. He’s saying all three aren’t, which is correct.
  11. Better yet, does he know who the president is and can he remember these three items I tell him after I distract him for five minutes?
  12. Agree with aspects of both. This OL could very well be better than the OL that completed the season last year; one which actually finished decently well. However, that assumes no injuries. I just don’t like taking that risk. I understand that in today’s CFB landscape, quality depth, especially at OL, is hard to keep. I just believe it’s an irresponsible and lazy choice to leave the same unmitigated risk on the table that your firm has already experienced and been negatively affected by. We blew our shot at the playoffs this past season because of poor IOL talent/depth. Just seems like foolish management strategy to leave it on the table, again.
  13. “Bray Lynch has said some things that seem to indicate he is likely returning to Indiana”
  14. Seems like he’s slotted at RG.
  15. Sikorski, Cojoe, Chatman, or Jordan Coleman based on what Bobby just said.
  16. Yep. This AM seems to be damage control 101 on Flood’s behalf.
  17. Yep, Bobby is making it sound like we’re done at OL (at least with a starting quality OL from the portal). “They have confidence they have someone on campus who can start at LG next season.” “This year is not one of those years I am overly concerned about OL.” “I’m more concerned about who the big back is going to be. You can have an AA offensive guard and still not be able to run inside zone.”
  18. Recruiting notes: Coach Boom on the road (Wed. 11:42 am CT) - Gerry Recruiting notes: Coach Boom on the road The Texas staff is on the road stopping by high schools, extending offers and Steve Sarkisian making in-home visits with top targets. And that also includes defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. Name to absolutely know ... Will Muschamp and Blake Gideon were in Mustang, Ok. Tuesday night to watch 4-star++ cornerback Gabriel Osborne Jr. (Mustang, Ok./High) play basketball. OnTexasFootball fully expects the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder to be one of the top defensive targets in the 2027 cycle. Mark Orphey offered Osborne Jr. in late October of 2025. Texas expected to be all in on JayQuan Snell ... Steve Sarkisian, Will Muschamp and Blake Gideon all met with 4-star++ safety and Texas A&M verbal JayQuan Snell (Waxahachie, Texas/High). Make no mistake, Texas is expected to battle hard for the 6-3, 200-pound hard-hitting safety. Defensive linemen in DFW ... Muschamp was also at Cedar Hill and DeSoto earlier this week according to sources at both schools. The players on center stage at those visits are Texas Tech defensive line commits Jalen Brewster (Cedar Hill, Texas/High) and K'Adrian Redmond (DeSoto, Texas/High). OnTexasFootball to make the biggest push for Brewster out of the two. Texas is working to get the 6-foot-3, 302-pounder on campus. Texas staff met with Brewster, and his father.
  19. I can think of one blue blood that won't change
  20. Wednesday - Bobby “Hoping for.” I don’t like that wording, at all. Wednesday By Bobby Burton This will be the final day players can be entered into the transfer portal. One big name has already come up. Ole Miss defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, who recorded nine sacks last year, has entered the portal. It’s believed he is likely to head to LSU but Texas will at least throw its hat in the ring. ** Watch for offensive linemen today. That’s almost certainly what Texas is hoping for. ** Lots of post-season lists are being published. For example, the final AP Poll was released and the Horns came in at no. 12. The results of that poll are ridiculous. Texas came in at no. 12. I think voters made their mind up about Texas after the Georgia game, and never looked seriously at the Horns again. Despite going 7-1 down the stretch, voters didn’t really see the team for what it was, which was an ever-improving team with an ever-improving QB and a solid defense with an elite playmaker in Colin Simmons. Texas got absolutely no ranking value out of even playing the last three games of the year despite beating two ranked teams by double digits in the process. Simply put, the voters got Texas wrong. At the end of the year, Texas was a better team than A&M, BYU, Alabama and Texas Tech. Of that, I have no doubt in my mind. OU finished no. 13, which was perhaps a final acknowledgement that maybe they put the wrong SEC team in the playoffs in the first place. We’ll see other lists come out as well, like the one that has Anthony Hill as the top Longhorn on the NFL draft board at no. 41. If Hill lasts to 41 in the draft, he must have lost a leg on the way to the combine. My point is this: these lists are fun to discuss. But rarely - and I mean very rarely - do they truly represent the reality of our sport, the teams and its players.
  21. Don't worry, it's only going to get worse. Yay!
