Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Correct. I don't know why people don't understand this. Cignetti is a fantastic coach, and he's winning a NC tomorrow, but even he's not going to be able to replicate this success next season. It's just not a long-term, successful strategy. Portal additions are great, but you aren't getting 22+ starters every year. He's going to be losing players to the portal just like everyone else. He's an elite scout for talent, but Indiana is still Indiana. This year is an anomaly. At some point he will have to rely on HS recruiting elite athletes. Sure, there will be growing pains with a lot of them, and some will portal out, but the ones who stay will prove long-term development of four and five-star kids will always be the bread and butter of CFB, and the portal is just a temporary band-aid.

You know she's a freak in the sack. You can just tell. You would Hulk smash that ass until you were blind and needed limbs amputated. Me too.

Ryan Wingo - An Explosion of Talent
I really hope with another year of growth that Wingo's hands have gotten stronger to make those contested catches. I'm rooting for the guy, and I like him on the team. But, if he continues his unfortunate trend of drops, it's time to put Lockett in. Also, it's time to fire Chris Jackson. If you're three years in and you're still struggling with catching balls, I don't know what to say, to be honest.

I mean, Iris is a Victoria's Secret model, so I'm not complaining. She's not early to mid 2000s Adriana Lima, but she'll do.

This is the quiet part out loud. It's 100% the truth. Almost all portal players and even HS players, regardless if they're five-stars or not, aren't worth their asking price. The casual viewer (the ones who actually buy products the most) have no idea who most players are. Their on-field production doesn't warrant it, and these HS kids haven't even played against grown ass men, yet these "agents" and players feel like they're worth six figures or more, when in reality a very, very small amount of players are worth their keep. Had Kewan Lacy entered the portal he would be worth his asking price (to an extent). And while we all love that we got Cam Coleman, his production wouldn't meet his true asking price. I would say almost 99% of guys who portal aren't elite by any means. They aren't marketable to the average fan. No one outside of us Texas fans and recruiting junkies have probably ever heard the name Hollywood Smothers or Raleek Brown. I had never heard of Rasheem Biles, and I watch a fuck ton of CFB. Same wirh Emmett Mosley V, Silas Bolden, Brad Spence, etc and so forth. I have absolutely no idea what they were paid, but it's definitely not worth high six figures (maybe Biles, IDK). Take Nico Iamaleava for example- He fucking sucks, and was average at Tennessee to begin with, yet they/him believe he is worth $1 million plus. Lol k. These people, and even athletes are delusional. I don't know if Wisner left on his own or was pushed out, but if he's being paid $600k or more, whomever is paying that are fucking retarded. I like Wisner, but he's below average at best. Only an extremely small amount of guys like Colin Simmons, Ant Hill, Ewers, Manning, Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, Kelvin Banks, etc are worth the money, and only two of those are/were in major commercials. They're game changers. Those are few and far between. But the average fan could probably only pick out Ewers and Manning from that list. How many players could a CFB fan even name if they saw them in a commercial? Arch for Warby Parker, Ewers Dr. Pepper, and I can't even name any other college player that's that marketable or memorable that I last saw.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
That's the nice part. Here's the shitty part of it. Also, I just saw this. Yikes. I didn't know Alligators were so prevalent, either. I've only been there a few times with some buddies years ago. It looked pretty nice, and then we saw another part of it. Crazy.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
I love the myth of it's the "loudest" stadium. No, it's not. Penn State is louder, by far. Ohio State is louder. LSU at night is ear ringing loud. Neyland is fucking insanely loud. Ben Hill is crazy loud. Jordan-Hare is filled with crazy, even when they suck shit. They, like everyone else, uses amplified noise. I swear they are the dumbest fan base and school. They got upset in 2024 about us using "fake" noise during the game. Uh, yeah, that happens. It's not like it makes, and wait for it, teams play better. That takes players, skill, and coaching. Only one of which aggy has—players. The Kyle Field is the loudest stadium in all of CFB has to be top 3 myths in the last 2 centuries. Bigfoot exists, Lochness Monster exist, and, well, you see the first part. I would take Bigfoot and Lochness as more believable than the first. I've been there many, many times from when I was in school and it's pretty loud when they play someone with a pulse, but hardly intimidating. It gets louder when they play us. Was it loud when Appalachian St beat them? I mean, I guess the crickets and empty seats were loud.

Texas Roster 2026
I don't care about any redundancies I have, so don't bother. But feel free to correct me on anything I got wrong, add your opinion, whatever. I wonder which of Cam Coleman/Ryan Wingo will start at the X and the other at the Z? Both are primary X receivers, but there's no way both aren't out there at the same time with Mosley playing the slot. Lockett will get snaps at the X, and maybe the Z (guessing for match-up purposes). Not sure how many McCutcheon will get since he looked good early in the first half of the season with what little time he had, then he looked anywhere between average to Melissa McCarthy having dehydrated diarrhea later in the season and in the bowl game. Does Terry get a shot at WR or is he a RB? Or both depending on match-up or which one he excels at best? Also, does Townsend start the season at the H? Does Winston get more PT? He has incredible hands from what little was seen of him, but I said the same thing about McCutcheon, so I dunno. Guys get better. Who, between Brown and Smothers starts at RB? Simon isn't starting, but will get way more snaps this season. Cooper will move up the depth chart, imo. Who does he pass? Simon? To be Debbie downer, Simon is probably a portal risk next off-season when they go get another portal RB if he doesn't move up the depth chart. Brown will be gone, depending on how Smothers does and he enters the draft, too, Simon could be our starter. We literally have 4 true RB's on the roster right now. Four. That's, uh, not great. But on the plus side, three will get carries at the very least. Simon, as far as I know, is the only RB who knows the entire playbook (that's assumption, of course). I love Ryan Niblett, but if he's starting we're in deep shit, but that's unlikely. He's a boutique back, but like a 'C' to Blue's 'A'. TE: I pray Michael Masunas can overthrow Spencer Shannon. Shannon is the literal definition of "just there." Not good, not terrible, just taking up a scholarship right now. Masunas is a big mf'er at 6'5 260, and Shannon is a twig in comparison, being 6'7 250 but looks more like he's 225. Masunas can actually catch, and Shannon has zero recorded stats. Townsend should (keyword) start at the H. Winston should play more. I hope. I won't even try and guess the OL (outside of Goosby and Baker, and probably Robertson at C, but I'm going to pencil in Sikorski at LG), or the DL. We know McDonald will play SS, and more than likely Derek Williams will be the starting FS. Nickle, imo will be Littleton, unless he makes the transition to starting CB, with a battle to the death for the other starting spot going to either Mascoe, Kobe Black (if he isn't moved to nickle), Kade Phillips, or Wardell Mack. I dunno, it could be Roberson. He's a good DB, but his penalties are hair pulling. He's the Cam Williams of DB's, so let's pray (not hope) he gets those fixed. Let's see if Jonah Williams can stay healthy, he looked pretty good against Michiigan, even if the numbers don't show it (3 TOT). He showed good cover skills. Maybe Zelus Hicks gets his shot with Gideon back. I suspect Filsaime will get much better with Gideon teaching. Ziky Umeozulu is a pretty big kid at 6'2 200 lbs, so he's my wildcard to play some this year. Gideon is a damn good defensive pass coordinator, and he's a really good teacher/coach. I see Rasheem Biles starting at ILB, even though Ty Smith also plays there, so maybe Ty will kick out to OLB, or vice versa. Does Brad Spence get more playing time? He should coming off the edge. I have no idea about Justin Cryer. Simmons is an automatic at WDE. Now it's a battle between Zina and Orogbo to either backup Simmons or move to SDE depending on who we play to backup Terry (he's flexible and can probably play both the 5-tech and 3-tech) and/or Lance Jackson. Vassk (if he is healthy and hasn't had any limbs amputated) is another option for SDE. Justus Terry will play a lot. A lot, a lot. He's a fucking muscled up freak of nature like Simmons. Seeing that aggy quite literally bounce off of him in the EZ and fall backwards will forever be in my personal Longhorns lore. Lance Jackson, too. He's an animal and you aren't keeping that killer off the field. Both Lance and Smith can play both sides, so that's a plus. Unless Richard Wesley comes in a freak like Simmons, I'm not sure we will see much of him this year. Kanu starts, obviously. Maybe Watson. Is it time for Sharma and Charles? January will probably start. No clue about any of the transfers. I'm sure Terry will play some 3-tech.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
Have you ever had second hand embarrassment other than having to sit next to a sooner or have aggy family members? Not a CSB– We had a guy where I live get caught with stolen valor while I was leaving Publix. He was confronted by two former veterans (NGL, they looked like they were former special forces. They were yoked) and were publicly humiliating him asking him questions about his insignias, patches, badges, awards, etc because (apparently, I've never been in the military, so I don't know shit from fuck) the guy was stumbling through his words, not making eye contact, they wouldn't let him leave. I almost felt bad for the guy until I remembered it's a federal crime. I was embarrassed for him for making the absolute moronic decision to do that. If you're going to steal valor, at least put the shit on where it goes, get the right insignias for whomever you're pretending to be and not just order from an Army surplus and just slap them on to have them on. They don't even know what the medals and patches mean. Unbelievable. It's so common, you have to wonder what they get from it? A 15% discount at Waffle House or Academy? Total Wine & More? Money? I see zero benefit unless you're using it to defraud people of their hard earned money. If that's the case, they should get a mandatory 15 year prison sentence without the possibility of parole. Just my personal opinion. That's fucked up and evil, in my mind. They're no better than Somalis stealing money from the elderly. It really is an epidemic, it seems like. There are YouTube channels specifically for this. I can't being myself to watch them because I personally don't take joy or satisfaction from someone's humiliation if it doesn't involve harming kids and animals, then I'll watch justice being served.

I would advise you not to drink from the Brazos even if you're dying of thirst. It's so nasty even chlorine tablets can't make it drinkable. Don't fish there, either.

Ryan Wingo - An Explosion of Talent
True, but we have to remember he's basically an elite athlete playing WR. All of his production went up, (sadly) including drops after the Michigan game. No excuses for a lot of the drops. None. I don't expect Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, Cris Carter, or AJ Green, but he should be in the DeAndre Moore, Jr range of no more than 3 in a season. Both of them. Arch has to get better at his intermediate throws, too. 2024 - 7 2025 - 9 (two in bowl game) 16 drops in two seasons is a serious red flag for NFL scouts, and quite frankly will probably drop him to RD 3 if he's lucky. I do worry about he and Coleman, since both can make Holy shit catches, but both also make wtf drops (fumbles for Coleman, too). Chris Jackson will be out of excuses if he can't get them to lower their drops by at least 57-60% on easily contested catches or wide open shots. Both guys are elite and there shouldn't be any issues making 50/50 catches. I don't know if he has weak hands or what, but it's crazy. If we're being honest, and I'm serious—they should be hanging out with Mosley and Lockett. Watch them catch with their hands and not on the body. That finger catch Wingo made in the back of the EZ against Aggy should be his "normal." The ball was over his head and he just made it look bad ass. Last edit: I do wonder if he has the dropsies if Sark will sit him and play Lockett more rather than rotating them 70/30-60/40 (just a projection of how it will be this season since Lockett is a RS-FR). He has to learn he's not immune to being benched. What kind of message is that sending to the other players? Playing favorites simply cannot happen anymore. Even Pete Carroll benched his WR's if they fucked up at USC, and he's the nicest dude ever. This circle of trust makes no sense when you're #1 X can't catch.

2026 ATH Derrek Cooper
247 is all over the place, but mostly they do a good job. They, imo, whiffed on his ranking, but I won't complain about it. He's a top-100 prospect, so I'm good with that. Is he a five-star? Yes, imo. For as much shit as we give espn, they have him as the #1 RB and a five-star, and the 11th ranked player in his class. On3 is probably the worst at rankings, overall.
